Chiang Rai – Arrival
Upon your arrival in Chiang Rai, deplane and follow signs to Immigration and collect baggage. After clearing customs, proceed to the Arrival lobby and look for your sign. Our friendly English-speaking guide will assist you with luggage and take a private transfer with guide to your comfortable hotel for check-in.

Drive south of Chiang Rai town for 30min to visit Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), designed and built by Achan Chalermchai Kositpipat, a famous Thai artist, built with strong determination that created unique and beautiful works of art that harmoniously combine the culture of Lanna, both stucco patterns decorated with mirrors and large wall paintings. The distinguishing feature of the temple is that the ubosot is decorated with a pattern of silver mirrors that shine in tiered tiers. The gable decorated with serpents with tusks proboscis looks very strange and interesting. The murals inside the Ubosot are made by the master\'s own paintings. Then return drive to the city for visit Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple), it is a Temple that was restored by Mr. Phutta Kabkaew or “Sala Nok”, a Local artist of Chiang Rai and a student of Achan Chalermchai Kositpipat. The temple is unusually beautiful with its unique applied arts by using a shade of blue and architectural beauty from a stucco artist. Continue drive north of town for 15min to visit Baan Dam Museum (Black House) is the work of Achan Thawan Duchanee, a National Artist in Visual Arts (Fine Arts). It consists of over 25 buildings of local Northern architecture and many applied local architecture buildings displaying folk art all painted black. These are the creations of local artisans from the past to the present. Each house is decorated with beautiful patterns of carved wood. They exhibit a large crocodile skin, snake skin, and different kinds of animal horns. The Baan Dam Museum is an art piece that creates imagination for the viewers in many perspectives and is also a collection of items used in daily life of the past.

Traveling up northern of the city to Mae Chan where Yao and Akha hill-tribes live. After that, we will continue to Mae Sai, which is the furthest northern border town between Thailand and Myanmar. As you will observe, it is a busy trading town where you will be able to spend some time looking for nice souvenirs from the area. After a delicious and much-needed Thai style lunch, we will take you to the Golden Triangle area, the wonder of Golden Triangle is the visit to 3 countries; Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, in one place. Sop Ruak is the place where Mekong River, the border between Thailand and Laos, meets Ruak River, the border between Thailand and Myanmar. In the past, Golden Triangle was the world\'s large source of drug trafficking owing to its privileged location attached to many countries. However, it is currently taken good care of and becomes a popular tourist attraction. From the viewpoint, the tourists will find the land that connects the three countries, surrounded by long and calm waterway. Visit House of Opium a privately owned museum, it exhibits the history of the opium trade and consumption in the Golden Triangle, which was introduced by the hill tribe’s immigrants from southern China. The museum also displays the hill tribe’s lifestyle following a 12-month cycle, poppy cultivation, opium trade in the area, drug trafficking in the Golden Triangle region. Last visit will be the one of Chiang Saen (A.D. 1260), the ancient city of Chiang Rai, which stands on the steep banks of the Mae Khong River, opposite Laos. Magnificent temples and impressive ruins can be admired there.

Traveling up northern of the city drive for 1-1.5 hour on mountain roads with beautiful scenic view along the way to Doi Mae Salong, it is a community of former Chinese soldiers of the 93rd Division of the Kuomintang, who migrated from Myanmar. During December to February is the cool season, and there will be wild Himalayan cherry that is the smallest Sakura pink and white flower blooming along the way up Doi Mae Salong. Visit Phrathat Chedi Srinagarindra Sathit Maha Santikhiri, a Phrathat with Lanna style architecture on the highest peak 1,500km above sea level and offers a comprehensive view of the scenery. Thai Chinese Memorial, there is a museum and a memorial built with love and faith of the people to remind the goodness of the past Chinese nationalist soldiers who helped saving the land as well as to promote tourism in Mae Salong. Lunch is at a local Yunnanese restaurant. 
After lunch, visit Oolong 101 Tea Plantation offers tea-tasting and tea product sales. You can walk into the plantation and take some photos of the beautiful landscape. Shop for local winter vegetables and fruits at local market before drive back to your hotel.

Traveling up northern of the city drive for 1-1.5 hour on mountain roads with beautiful scenic view along the way to Doi Tung Palace, used to be the residence for the work of HRH Princess Srinagarindra. The architecture is a combination of Lanna art with a Swiss chalet. There are woodcarvings along the eaves, and the window sills have different patterns of Northern craftsmanship. 
 
Points to visit around the Palace include: 
Mae Fa Luang Garden is in front of Doi Tung Palace and is a winter flower garden; e.g., Salvia, Petinia, Begonia, Rose, Brugmansia, Shade Tree, and more than 70 types of pergolas, and handcrafted sculptures by Misiem Yipintsoi. 
The Hall of Inspiration is an exhibition building that tells the story of how each member of the Royal Family inspired each other. The story reflects the philosophy of work, and the result of the long-term visions of five kings, who made the thai people have a better quality of life. There are seven exhibition rooms inside.
 
Continue drive up the mountain to Wat Phra That Doi Tung is a temple that sits atop of Doi Tung, the tallest mount in Chiang Rai, which is approximately 2,000 meters above the sea level. The temple was built in the 10th century with two following restorations in the 13th century by King Mengrai of Chiang Rai and in the 20th century by the revered monk Khru Ba Siwichai. Wat Phra That Doi Tung comprises of a twin Lanna-style stupas, one of which is believed to contain the left collarbone of Lord Buddha, which draws devout Buddhists from all over Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. The journey to Wat Phra That Doi Tung from Chiang Rai is actually a plus benefit as you will be passing through breathtaking sceneries and spectacular panoramic views overlooking Laos and Myanmar.
